    About the Artist:
My style is relaxed. For children, I want you to look at a picture from one of our sessions and remember all the stages of their uniqueness, even when they are too big for you to choose their outfits, comb the "rat's nests" out of their hair (complete with princess rats, mommy rats, and daddy rats, according to my daughters), or let you chauffeur them around town because, amazingly, they can drive themselves. For new mothers and couples getting married, I want you to remember that expectant happiness, that knowledge that you're entering a new stage of your life, and you can't wait.

I look forward to meeting you and capturing memories with you.

After Session | Jacksonville wedding photographer

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This is definitely the time of year where everything is bustling. I’m so behind on my blog! Hopefully I can post more soon and share more photos from recent sessions with everyone.

I shared images from Maria and Bodo’s wedding not too long ago. Since they weren’t able to do an engagement session, they met with me after their wedding for an After Session. For the location, they choose the dock in the backyard of one of their friends in the same neighborhood where they both grew up. The view of the river was lovely.

The joy of being a newlywed. The wedding planning has ended, and it’s time to just be together.

There were some ropes hanging from a tree that were perfect for having a little fun.

Urban | Saint Augustine family photographer

Saint Augustine is rich with character and a wonderful choice for an urban family session. I love the B family’s outfits for this session, which also go so well with the historic vibe of the setting. The boys were cute and ready to explore.

This wall has such great color and character.

If only all sibling moments were so peaceful… (my own girls know otherwise)

Isn’t he adorable? And I love that tie.

I could tell he’s a thoughtful boy; just look at those eyes.

Children are all about fun, and at this age, parents are the best kind of fun. Gotta love it while it lasts.

The classic on the move picture. Look at that grin.

The parents still have it.

Megan - November 20, 2011 - 7:48 pm

I love the boys’ outfits. Great setting.

Florida driftwood | Jacksonville family photographer

The H family wanted beach portraits, but something a little out of the ordinary. This beach has such character and beauty, and was the perfect choice for them. The H family is full of warmth and adventure, and I had a great time exploring this nook of beach with them.

In this image, I love how his arms mimic the shape of the branches, and how he’s just having fun and being himself.

This child has the spirit of adventure in her. Before bringing the girl over to the driftwood for her portraits, I asked her mother if her daughter minded bugs and warned her they were “large.” The bugs scurried away, and after a little coaxing, Miss E ventured on the branch. My own girls would have run screaming. They can’t even stand the sight of ants. Not only did this girl agree to be on the driftwood, but she also gave the sweetest smiles. Later, her mother told me in an aside that I hadn’t been kidding about the big bugs. They’re not the kind we see everyday, that’s for sure!

This image is just right for a black and white.

This picture says it all for family.

Robbie - November 14, 2011 - 11:02 pm

Sugar and Spice | Saint Augustine family photographer

I met the O family for their fall portraits, and both children were so sweet and ready for fun. I had a hard time narrowing down the pictures for my blog post; I loved so many.

Little A has such a charming smile.

And Miss E has such natural grace.

I love her soulful look here.

Sisters know the best secrets.

Aren’t the girls wearing such cute outfits? The mom made them herself and has her own Etsy shop, The Ornery Owl.

Maria & Bodo Married | Jacksonville wedding photographer

Maria and Bodo grew up in the same neighborhood, but although their circle of friends and family intersected, they didn’t meet right away. After finally meeting and dating for the past five years, they were married at the Arlington Congregational Church in Jacksonville, just a hop, skip, and jump away from where they grew up by the St. John’s river. We did their “After Session” portraits at one of their friend’s home on the river, which will be up in a separate blog post soon. Their wedding may have been organized quickly, but all the details came together in a lovely way.

I never cry at weddings. But when I sort through the images later and create my blog posts, I’m often moved by the love and emotions I see. This was one of those weddings where I got a little teary-eyed looking through the images. There was so much raw emotion. It’s easy to see that love runs deep between Maria and Bodo as they head into their new lives together and embrace all the changes that brings. Maria and Bodo, you two are meant to be together. Thank you for just being yourselves and for having me be part of your day. It was an honor to record these memories for you. I wish you much joy in your new married life!

Maria was walked down the aisle by both her step-father and father.

Maria, you’re stunning. And you look at home.

The maid of honor is also Maria’s best friend from many years.

Their first dance was filled with emotion.

My own daughters are still very young, but I can imagine how moving it will be when they get married. These were such special dances between Maria, Bodo and their parents. Their faces say it all.

There’s nothing like the bride’s shoe coming off with the garter to add a little spice.

The bridal party had a last dance.

Oh my goodness – I teared up on the father daughter dance, and laughed at the garter belt. What a lovely wedding with gorgeous colors. You did a fabulous job!
